Sony is preparing a new film in the “Men in Black” franchise.
The beloved sci-fi comedy franchise is set to continue, thanks to the efforts of acclaimed screenwriter Chris Bremner.
Following his success in revitalizing the Bad Boys series, Sony Pictures is now aiming to reinvigorate another legendary franchise — Men in Black. The studio has officially announced its partnership with Bremner, known for his work on Bad Boys for Life (2020) and the upcoming Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024), who will be penning the script for the new installment. Details about the cast remain undisclosed, and Sony has yet to release any formal statements.
Is Agent J Making a Comeback?
While the storyline remains a closely guarded secret, insiders reveal that Will Smith, the star of the original trilogy, will be the first to read the finished script. The studio is hopeful that Smith will reprise his role as Agent J. It’s still uncertain whether his return will be as a lead character or a brief cameo symbolizing a “passing of the torch.” Notably, Smith’s character is already written into the initial draft, though the actor has not made any commitments and will decide after reviewing the screenplay.
A Screenwriter With a Strong Track Record
Chris Bremner brings a proven record of success, with the last two Bad Boys movies grossing a combined USD 837.1 million worldwide. His collaboration with Will Smith extends beyond this series, having recently written the script for the Netflix action thriller Fast and Loose, another significant project featuring the star.
Anticipating a Thrilling Comeback
The upcoming Men in Black revival is shaping up to be an exciting event for fans, potentially ushering in a fresh chapter for the iconic agents who confront enigmatic extraterrestrial menaces.
