Marvel Actor Chris Pratt Shares His Batman Audition and Why the Role Is Off the Table Chris Pratt, widely recognized as Star-Lord from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, has opened up about his brief attempt to step into the iconic superhero role of Batman. In a recent interview, Pratt recounted his interaction with DC Studios boss James Gunn and explained why he will not be donning the Bat suit in the future. Pratt's Humorous Batman Audition and Gunn's Response The actor revealed that he once sent Gunn a playful photo of himself wearing a Batman mask, which he had edited using graphic design tools. His intention was lighthearted, and he wasn’t seriously auditioning for the role. Pratt shared, “I sent him a picture of me in a Batman mask, and he just replied with ‘Haha.’ So, it’s safe to say I won’t be Batman anytime soon.” He clarified that this was more of a joke or a fun experiment rather than a formal audition or offer from DC Studios. Why Chris Pratt Isn't Interested in Playing Batman Pratt also explained his perspective on why he doesn’t see himself as a good fit for the Dark Knight. “The role of Batman is pretty saturated right now, and I honestly don’t see how you could bring anything new to it,” he said. “There have been so many versions already. Honestly, I don’t want to try. It was never a serious consideration, and I don’t think I’m the right person for that role.” As a result, Pratt has firmly moved on from the idea of joining the DC universe and is focusing instead on his commitments within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Exciting Future for Peter Quill at Marvel Despite the DC role being off the table, Pratt’s future at Marvel looks bright. He praised director James Gunn’s decision not to reunite Peter Quill with Gamora in the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” noting that it opens new storytelling avenues. “It allows us to explore Peter Quill’s character more deeply because he’s going through a significant trauma that hasn’t been resolved,” Pratt explained. “He’s in a position to redefine himself, especially now that he’s no longer bound by previous obligations like family or a romantic relationship.” When asked about what’s next for Star-Lord, Pratt gave a cryptic but optimistic response: “Yes and no. Things at Marvel are very flexible. They’re taking it one step at a time.” Fans can look forward to seeing Pratt reprise his role as Peter Quill as he embarks on new adventures in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe phase, which promises to present both personal growth and cosmic challenges for the beloved hero.
