Aishe, a Uyghur woman shaped by the military discipline of her father, moves to New York City and ends up working in the hidden kitchens of Chinatown. There, she crosses paths with Skinner, a young American soldier recently back from three Middle Eastern deployments. As their romance blossoms, they begin to realize that together they can create a brighter future, surpassing the lives they once thought were set in stone.
