Ilija, a member of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO), is stationed in Central Bosnia in late 1993. During a routine mine-laying operation one morning, he receives devastating news: his younger brother Goran, along with eight other soldiers, has been killed far behind enemy lines. Through a contact in the secret service, Ilija discovers that the mission was unofficial and that Goran and the others were operating as mercenaries. Driven by this revelation, he begins to unravel a complex web of illegal activities that involve not only military personnel but also high-ranking government officials. As the investigation deepens and the risks escalate, Ilija’s initial quest for the truth gradually morphs into a relentless, personal vendetta.
