Maharashtra boasts a rich and illustrious history, with the era of Shivaji Maharaj standing as a source of immense pride. During this time, Adilshah of Bijapur emerged as Shivaji Maharaj’s fiercest adversary and was the dominant ruler over Konkan and Maharashtra. Shivaji Maharaj's establishment of Swaraj liberated the region’s people from Adilshah’s oppression, making the latter his most formidable enemy. In response, Adilshah declared war on Shivaji Maharaj and successfully seized the strategic Panhala fort. Despite numerous efforts, Shivaji Maharaj was initially unable to reclaim the fort. Demonstrating his cunning political tactics, Adilshah appointed the ruthless Beshakh Khan as the fort’s guardian. Beshakh Khan’s unlawful and unethical actions directly challenged Swaraj and obstructed Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation. Consequently, reclaiming Panhala fort and removing this obstacle became a matter of great honor for Shivaji Maharaj. The film *Farzand* celebrates this historic episode by highlighting the valor of Shivaji Maharaj’s 60 legendary warriors, led by Kondaji Farzand, and their remarkable mission to capture Panhala fort.
